Book of Hosea 2:16.17-18.21-22.
Then will I remove from her mouth the names of the Baals, so that they shall no longer be invoked.
I will make a covenant for them on that day, with the beasts of the field, With the birds of the air, and with the things that crawl on the ground. Bow and sword and war I will destroy from the land, and I will let them take their rest in security.
I will espouse you to me forever: I will espouse you in right and in justice, in love and in mercy;
The earth shall respond to the grain, and wine, and oil, and these shall respond to Jezreel.
I will sow him for myself in the land, and I will have pity on Lo-ruhama. I will say to Lo-ammi, "You are my people," and he shall say, "My God!"

Every day I will bless you; I will praise your name forever.
Great is the LORD and worthy of high praise; God's grandeur is beyond understanding.
One generation praises your deeds to the next and proclaims your mighty works.
They speak of the splendor of your majestic glory, tell of your wonderful deeds.
They speak of your fearsome power and attest to your great deeds.
They publish the renown of your abounding goodness and joyfully sing of your justice.
The LORD is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in love.
The LORD is good to all, compassionate to every creature.

While he was saying these things to them, an official came forward, knelt down before him, and said, "My daughter has just died. But come, lay your hand on her, and she will live."
Jesus rose and followed him, and so did his disciples.
A woman suffering hemorrhages for twelve years came up behind him and touched the tassel on his cloak.
She said to herself, "If only I can touch his cloak, I shall be cured."
Jesus turned around and saw her, and said, "Courage, daughter! Your faith has saved you." And from that hour the woman was cured.
When Jesus arrived at the official's house and saw the flute players and the crowd who were making a commotion,
he said, "Go away! The girl is not dead but sleeping." And they ridiculed him.
When the crowd was put out, he came and took her by the hand, and the little girl arose.
And news of this spread throughout all that land.

"If only I can touch his cloak, I shall be cured."
Listen, my brothers: If the blessed Virgin is so honored, as it is right, since she carried him in her most holy womb; if the blessed Baptist trembled and did not dare to touch the holy head of God; if the tomb in which he lay for some time is so venerated, how holy, just, and worthy must be the person who touches him with his hands, receives him in his heart and mouth, and offers him to others to be received. This is he who is now not about to die, but who is eternally victorious and glorified, upon whom the angels desire to gaze.
Look at your dignity, you brothers who are priests, and be holy since He is holy (1Pt 1,16)... It is a great misery and a miserable weakness that when you have Him present with you in this way, you concern yourselves with anything else in this entire world!
Let the whole of mankind tremble, the whole world shake and the heavens exult when Christ, the Son of the living God, is present on the altar in the hands of a priest. O admirable heights and sublime lowliness! O sublime humility! O humble sublimity! That the Lord of the universe, God and the Son of God, so humbles himself that for our salvation he hides himself under the little form of bread! Look, brothers, at the humility of God and pour out your hearts before him! Humble yourselves, as well, that you may be exalted by him. Therefore, hold back nothing of yourselves for yourselves so that he who gives himself totally to you may receive you totally.

 St. Anthony Mary Zaccaria, Priest (1502-1539)SAINT ANTHONY MARY ZACCARIA Priest (1502-1539) Anthony Mary Zaccaria, born of a noble family of Cremona, while still a boy shone with modesty of manners and compassion for the poor. He studied the humanities, philosophy and medicine, and easily surpassed his companions both in moral integrity and in mental ability. By divine inspiration, he devoted himself earnestly to the study of the Sacred Sciences; then, promoted to the priesthood, he served in that office so well that his fellow-citizens used to call him Father and Angel of his country. At Milan, with Bartholomew Ferrari and James Morigia, most saintly men, he founded an association of Clerks Regular, named after St. Paul, and a society of nuns called the Angelicals. He had a singular devotion towards the Holy Eucharist and was an extraordinary promoter of public exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. Endowed with heavenly gifts by God and worn out by his great labors, he was seized with a dangerous illness and died a most holy death at Cremona on the third of the Nones of July in the year 1539. Pope Leo XIII approved and confirmed the veneration shown him and added him to the calendar of the saints. | |
