Tuesday of the Eighth week in Ordinary Time

Book of Sirach 35:1-12.
To keep the law is a great oblation, and he who observes the commandments sacrifices a peace offering.
In works of charity one offers fine flour, and when he gives alms he presents his sacrifice of praise.
To refrain from evil pleases the LORD, and to avoid injustice is an atonement.
Appear not before the LORD empty-handed, for all that you offer is in fulfillment of the precepts.
The just man's offering enriches the altar and rises as a sweet odor before the Most High.
The just man's sacrifice is most pleasing, nor will it ever be forgotten.
In generous spirit pay homage to the LORD, be not sparing of freewill gifts.
With each contribution show a cheerful countenance, and pay your tithes in a spirit of joy.
Give to the Most High as he has given to you, generously, according to your means.
For the LORD is one who always repays, and he will give back to you sevenfold.
But offer no bribes, these he does not accept! Trust not in sacrifice of the fruits of extortion,
For he is a God of justice, who knows no favorites.

"Gather my faithful ones before me, those who made a covenant with me by sacrifice."
The heavens proclaim divine justice, for God alone is the judge. Selah
"Listen, my people, I will speak; Israel, I will testify against you; God, your God, am I.
Not for your sacrifices do I rebuke you, nor for your holocausts, set before me daily.
Offer praise as your sacrifice to God; fulfill your vows to the Most High.
Those who offer praise as a sacrifice honor me; to the obedient I will show the salvation of God."

Peter began to say to him, "We have given up everything and followed you."
Jesus said, "Amen, I say to you, there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for my sake and for the sake of the gospel
who will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age: houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and eternal life in the age to come.
But many that are first will be last, and (the) last will be first."

Leaving all to follow him

For forty years, to use the analogy made by Saint Paul (1Cor 9,24), Clare had now run the race in the stadium of very great poverty. She was drawing close to the goal of her heavenly vocation and to the reward promised to the victor... Divine Providence hastened to fulfil what it had in mind for Clare: Christ desired to bring his little, poor one into his royal palace at the close of her pilgrimage. She, on her part, longed with all the impulse of her desire... to behold, reigning on high in his glory, the Christ whose poverty she had imitated on earth...

All her daughters had gathered around their mother's bed... Then, speaking to herself, Claire said to her soul: «Go in all safety; you have a good guide for the road. Go, for he who created you has also sanctified you. He has always kept you and loved you with tender love as a mother loves her child. Blessed are you, O Lord, who have created me!» One of the Sisters asked her to whom she was talking. Clare answered: «To my blessed soul.» Her guide for the journey was not far off. Indeed, turning towards one of her daughters, she said: «Do you see what I can see? - The King of glory!»...

Blessed be her departure from this vale of sorrow, a departure that was for her the entry into the life of blessedness! As a reward for her fasts here below she now knows the joy that reigns at the table of the saints. In exchange for her rags and ashes she has entered into possession of the blessedness of the heavenly Kingdom where she is clothed in the robe of eternal glory.

Tuesday, 01 March 2011 St. Albinus, Bishop (+ 550) SAINT ALBINUS Bishop (469- 550)         Saint Albinus was of an ancient and noble family in Brittany, and from his childhood was fervent in every exercise of piety. He ardently sighed after the happiness which a devout soul finds in being perfectly disengaged from all earthly things.         Having embraced the monastic state at Tintillant, near Angers, he shone a perfect model of virtue, living as if in all things he had been without any will of his own; and his soul seemed so perfectly governed by the spirit of Christ as to live only for Him.         At the age of thirty-five years he was chosen abbot, in 504, and twenty-five years afterwards Bishop of Angers. He everywhere restored discipline, being inflamed with a holy zeal for the honor of God. His dignity seemed to make no alteration either in his mortifications or in the constant recollection of his soul. Honored by all the world, even by kings, he was never affected with vanity. Powerful in works and miracles, he looked upon himself as the most unworthy and most unprofitable among the servants of God, and had no other ambition than to appear such in the eyes of others as he was in those of his own humility.         In the third Council of Orleans, in 538, he procured the thirtieth canon of the Council of Epaone to be revived, by which those are declared excommunicated who presume to contract incestuous marriages in the first or second degree of consanguinity or affinity. Martes de la VIII Semana del Tiempo Ordinario

Libro de Eclesiástico 35,1-12.
Observar la Ley es como presentar muchas ofrendas y ser fiel a los mandamientos es ofrecer un sacrificio de comunión;
devolver un favor es hacer una oblación de harina y hacer limosna es ofrecer un sacrifico de alabanza.
La manera de agradar al Señor es apartarse del mal, y apartarse de la injusticia es un sacrificio de expiación.
No te presentes ante el Señor con las manos vacías, porque todo esto lo prescriben los mandamientos.
Cuando la ofrenda del justo engrasa el altar, su fragancia llega a la presencia del Altísimo.
El sacrificio del justo es aceptado y su memorial no caerá en el olvido.
Glorifica al Señor con generosidad y no mezquines las primicias de tus manos.
Da siempre con el rostro radiante y consagra el diezmo con alegría.
Da al Altísimo según lo que él te dio, y con generosidad, conforme a tus recursos,
porque el Señor sabe retribuir y te dará siete veces más.
No pretendas sobornarlo con un don, porque no lo aceptaría, y no te apoyes en un sacrificio injusto.
Porque el Señor es juez y no hace distinción de personas:

"Reúnanme a mis amigos, a los que sellaron mi alianza con un sacrificio".
¡Que el cielo proclame su justicia, porque el Señor es el único Juez!
"Escucha, pueblo mío, yo te hablo; Israel, voy a alegar contra ti: yo soy el Señor, tu Dios.
No te acuso por tus sacrificios: ¡tus holocaustos están siempre en mi presencia!
Ofrece al Señor un sacrificio de alabanza y cumple tus votos al Altísimo;
El que ofrece sacrificios de alabanza, me honra de verdad; y al que va por el buen camino, le haré gustar la salvación de Dios".

Evangelio según San Marcos 10,28-31.
Pedro le dijo: "Tú sabes que nosotros lo hemos dejado todo y te hemos seguido".
Jesús respondió: "Les aseguro que el que haya dejado casa, hermanos y hermanas, madre y padre, hijos o campos por mí y por la Buena Noticia,
desde ahora, en este mundo, recibirá el ciento por uno en casas, hermanos y hermanas, madres, hijos y, campos, en medio de las persecuciones; y en el mundo futuro recibirá la Vida eterna.
Muchos de los primeros serán los últimos y los últimos serán los primeros".

Dejarlo todo para seguirle

     Pasados 40 años, Clara, según la comparación empleada por san Pablo (1Co 9,24) ha corrido la carrera en el estadio de la suma pobreza. Clara, cercana ya a la meta de su vocación celestial y de la recompensa prometida al vencedor... la divina providencia se apresura en llevar a cabo aquello que le tenía destinado: Cristo se dispone a introducir en su palacio real a la «pobre» por excelencia al final de su peregrinaje. En cuanto a ella, deseaba con todas sus fuerzas...... contemplar, reinando en su gloria, al Cristo que había imitado en la tierra en su pobreza.
     Todas sus hijas estaban reunidas alrededor de la  cama de la madre..... Clara dirigiéndose a sí misma, dice a su alma:<< Ve segura, porque llevas buena escolta para el viaje. Ve, porque aquel que te creó, también te santificó; y, guardándote siempre, como una madre a su hijo, te ha amado con amor tierno. Tú, Señor -prosigue-, seas bendito porque me creaste>> Preguntándole una de las hermanas que a quién hablaba, Clara respondió: «Hablo a mi alma bendita». No estaba ya lejano su glorioso tránsito, pues, dirigiéndose luego a una de sus hijas, le dice: « ¿Ves tú, ¡oh hija!, al Rey de la gloria a quien estoy viendo?»...
     Bendito sea este éxodo del valle de la miseria que para ella fue la entrada en la vida bienaventurada. Ahora, a cambio de sus austerísimos ayunos, se alegra en la mesa de los ciudadanos del cielo; y desde ahora, a cambio de la vileza de las cenizas, es bienaventurada en el reino celeste, condecorada con la estola de la eterna gloria.

martes 01 Marzo 2011 San Rosendo Obispo y abad   Nació Rosendo el 26 de noviembre del 907. Lo bautizó Sabarico, tío paterno del recién nacido. Ante el acontecimiento, agradecidos los padres, intensifican las buenas obras construyendo y dotando monasterios. Es nombrado Obispo cuando sólo tiene dieciocho años, en el 925. Sucede a su tío Sabarico en la sede de Mondoñedo. Pide al Señor la paz que buena falta hacía entre su pueblo. Se gana la confianza de los abades del entorno, dirime contiendas entre los nobles, soluciona pleitos, reconcilia penitentes y aconseja en las dudas; también apaga rencores, cura las heridas de la envidia tan presente en todos los tiempos, pacifica matrimonios, sofoca conspiraciones y serena ánimos inquietos. Abundando en el influjo social, contribuye poderosamente en la abolición de la esclavitud.      Pero en el año 955 le llega una orden un tanto extraña del rey Ordoño III. Ahora comienza a ser, además de obispo, militar y político de su tiempo. Luego, los normandos invadieron, en el 968 y por mar, las costas de su territorio; los expulsa de sus feudos mandándoles a don Gonzalo. La sede de Santiago queda vacante en ese tiempo y es la infanta Margarita, tutora del rey don Ramiro III, quien le insta para que la acepte. Cuida de nuevo del clero, rehace monasterios, atiende a los fieles, asegura aspectos civiles de los bienes eclesiásticos, asiste al concilio de León acompañado por san Pedro de Mezonzo e impregna de dinamismo apostólico a los a los clérigos y a los monjes. Pudo pasar los tres últimos años de su vida en el monasterio de Celanova, rezando, predicando y dando ejemplo.  Murió el 1 de marzo del 977. Oremos Señor, tú que por la predicación de san Rosendo llamaste a nuestros padres a la luz admirable del Evangelio, te pedimos que, por su intercesión, nosotros crezcamos también en tu gracia y en el conocimiento de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Que vive y reina contigo.
